Fieldwork and lab experiments continue as part of our efforts to better understand harmful cyanobacterial blooms in freshwater ecosystems.
Sampling is ongoing at Lake Vico, Italy, with doctoral student Ajay Valiyaveettil Salimkumar entering his second year of fieldwork. Alongside collecting new samples, Ajay is analysing first-year metabarcoding data and testing innovative methods to isolate Planktothrix strains in the laboratory.
