My PhD project focuses on hypersaline environments characterized by geochemical properties and a community of unique microorganisms called halophiles. Current climate warming has a direct impact on these environments and the microbial communities that they contain. Temperature variations increase water evaporation phenomena, leading to the formation of halite crystals (NaCl). Within these crystals are fluid inclusions that can trap communities of microorganisms. My thesis is part of a multidisciplinary approach mixing microbiology, biochemistry and analytical chemistry.
